The 2026 Best Health Equity or Accessibility Innovation Award recognizes a technology, product, platform, service, or initiative that reduces barriers and helps more people access meaningful healthcare support.

This category celebrates innovations designed to address disparities related to geography, disability, language, income, culture, transportation, digital access, health literacy, or other circumstances that can affect a person’s ability to receive appropriate care.

The strongest entries will clearly identify the population or access barrier being addressed, explain how the solution was designed for that need, and provide credible evidence of improved access, participation, experience, or outcomes during 2026.

Who Should Apply?

This category is open to companies, organizations, programs, and teams using technology or innovation to improve healthcare equity or accessibility. Eligible entrants may include:

• Digital health and virtual care companies
• Accessibility and assistive technology developers
• Hospitals, health systems, and provider organizations
• Community health and public health organizations
• Health plans and employer health programs
• Patient navigation and healthcare access platforms
• Nonprofit organizations and social-impact ventures
• Startups, established companies, government entities, and community partnerships

Organizations may enter directly or be submitted by an authorized representative, agency, communications partner, community partner, customer, or member of the implementation team.

What Judges Will Look For

Entries will be evaluated based on the importance of the barrier addressed, the solution’s design, implementation, evidence, and impact. Judges will consider:

• Barrier significance: The importance of the healthcare disparity, access challenge, or unmet need being addressed
• Community relevance: How clearly the solution reflects the circumstances and needs of the population it serves
• Accessibility and inclusion: The extent to which the solution removes practical, financial, physical, cultural, linguistic, or technological barriers
• Innovation: The originality or significance of the technology, service model, program, or approach
• Implementation: Evidence that the solution can reach and support its intended users in real-world settings
• Measurable impact: Credible evidence of improved access, participation, engagement, experience, quality, or outcomes

Eligibility

• Open to companies, organizations, programs, partnerships, and teams worldwide
• The submitted work must address a clearly identified healthcare equity or accessibility need
• The entry may focus on a specific population, community, geography, disability, language, care setting, or access barrier
• The work must have been developed, launched, implemented, expanded, updated, or significantly advanced during the 2026 calendar year
• Early-stage initiatives may enter when meaningful development, community engagement, validation, or implementation can be demonstrated
• Supporting claims and results should be accurate and attributable to the submitted work

What to Include in Your Entry

Entrants should clearly explain the barrier being addressed, the population affected, and the impact achieved during 2026. Submissions should include:

• An overview of the solution, program, platform, service, or initiative
• A description of the population, community, or users it is designed to support
• The healthcare disparity, accessibility challenge, or care barrier it addresses
• An explanation of how the intended community informed the design, development, or implementation where relevant
• Information about affordability, accessibility, language support, cultural relevance, usability, or digital access where applicable
• Important development, launch, implementation, partnership, or expansion milestones from 2026
• Measurable results demonstrating improved access, engagement, participation, experience, quality, or outcomes
• Supporting links, demonstrations, research, reports, community feedback, case studies, or partner examples
